Mizuta PT In The Community

On November 12th, 2016 Julia Surdut Young and her husband Nick Young participated in the San Diego Lung Force Walk (American Lung Association). November was Lung Cancer awareness month. The American Lung Association website has a plethora of information and resources regarding lung disease. Lung disease does not just effect people who smoke, however, tobacco users are at a higher risk. Tobacco use and second hand smoke is the leading cause of preventable death in this country. Also, more than 33 million Americans suffer from asthma, COPD (which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and other lung diseases. The event was a 5k run/walk that took place in the Embarcadero and was a gorgeous course. Before the race, we listened to people speak about their experience, celebrated the survivors, and stopped by the information booths. It was a great event! Here at Mizuta & Associates Physical Therapy we think it is very important to support the community as well as keeping our own bodies physically fit and strong to decrease risk of disease and injury.
